OUR STAFF
Mal
Adjusted is well known around Canberra as one of the finest spanner
spinners in the business. Our mechanics are passionate, enthusiastic
and highly experienced, and only occasionally neurotic. We have up to 9 staff working at any one time in the shop, with a wealth of knowledge to impart to our customers. Mal
has about 15 staff employed at the shop, all are avid cyclists and all
of us compete in some form of the sport, from Masters Games Downhill
racing to Off road Duathlons and Road Crits. - Mal
himself is a "jack of all trades" participating in all forms of cycling
at some point or other. Riding the Mont circuit on his Jake the Snake
Cyclocross bike is one of his claims to fame. Fantastic all round rider
and great boss... just don’t mention the "G" word... or the "M.O."
words or the "L" word... or...
- Claire Graydon aka little Claire, Donna, Battle Dwarf and Foraging Gnome, elite endurance mountain bike racing veteran. Budding forensic cop and awesome cook.
- Joel McFarlane-Roberts is an endurance mountain and road cyclist with an interest in vintage bikes and parts. Walking bike encyclopedia, but a massive hypocrite on the 29er debate, and the use of lightweight scandium/carbon frames and general weight-weenieism.
- Stan Hancock is our new
micromanagerial maestro. He's got stacks of retail experience, is a
thorough believer in the N+1 principle (think singlespeed cyclocross),
has been on oceanographic surveying expeditions, and is full of
entertaining "Stanecdotes".
- Ed McDonald Singlespeed endurance racer and philosopher, bridge engineer, raving pinko lefty and website dabbler.
- Wayde Margetts is one of
our most recent additions. Exchanging a wild lifestyle as a Sydney bike
courier for a more sedate family life in Canberra, Wayde is well-versed
in the intricacies of modern car-free living. His collection of kiddie
trailers is formidable.
- Paddy Hatch is a 16 year old with the maturity/application most people never achieve in a lifetime. He's ridden just about every form of riding and has some serious skills. Also a slightly disturbing tendency for pyromania.
- Jacob Junakovic is another young'un being groomed/maladjusted into an obedient comrade of Chairman Mal. Crazy bike handling skills, especially on fixies. Just don't let him near the Red Bull or Coke.... or even the red cordial....
- Jed Stone is a newbie we rescued from the depths of the ANU philosophy program. Owns many restored 10spd roadies, and is generally awesome.
OUR RIDERSThe following are a few of the talented riders that we help out (including staff... we ride what we sell!). Their bikes are well looked after and most are available for sale or test ride at any time.
Mal Adjusted Blinglespeed Race Team - a few nutters who ride insanely long distances and apparently enjoy it. Between our four riders at the 2010 Australian Solo 24 Hour Champs, we took 11 podium places - including 4 spots on the elite podium.
- Brett Bellchambers - Niner SS SIR9 and MCR9 29er hardtails - 5 time solo singlespeed 24 hour champion, e-phenomenon and known to singlespeeders as the "second coming of Christ". Look for the beard.
- Ed McDonald - Salsa Selma SS 29er, Niner AIR9 29er - Brett's padawan, a little lacking in beard but ok on the race course.
- Claire Graydon - Santa Cruz Blue XC Carbon (coming), Scott Contessa Scale
MTB, Kona Unit Single speed MTB. Has done "twice as many 24 solo races as she is tall" (ref: Enduro mag).
- Bec Parkes - Soma Juice 29er SS - podiums in most men's SS categories.
Mal Adjusted DH Race Team - fast, flowing and super talented.
- Joey Vejvoda - Norco 4Hun
